New Castle, Indiana Burial Mound and Henge Works Revealed in Lidar Imagery

The largest burial mound was almost completely obliterated by Ball State University archaeologists. The interuption of the ditch in the southern portion is the result of Ball State. To the west of the large mound are two small henges that are still visible in the winter months and a burial mound that is aligned to the Equinox sunset with the larger mound.  To the south are a series if small henges with one intact and the remnants of three others are slightly perceptible.

Map done by Eli Lilly in the 1930s.
