 Ancient Egyptian Uraeus Symbol at the Rentschler Serpent Mound in Butler County, Ohio




The name Uraeus is a compound name composed of Ur, the hawk-god, plus Re, the sun-god, with the hiss of the asp added to it. The two Serpent heads and the Sun Disc are still "preserved" in Rentchler Forest in Butler County, Ohio. Most of the earthen walls extending to the river are now destroyed along with the burial mounds.



This site is difficult to photograph. The earthwork in the background is part of the serpent's head as it bends around the Sun Disc in the center. The Sun Disc and the two Serpent's heads facing each other are perfectly preserved along with the burial mound
