The Grave Creek mounds surrounding ditch can be seen in this early photo. The deep ditch surrounding the mound gives it the appearance of sitting on a circular platform. There is no discernable evidence of the ditch today.

A more recent postcard of the Grave Creek mound shows how the ditch was filled in and the earthwork leveled.
