Adena Burial Mound in Greene County, Indiana

The burial mound was slightly elliptical, being 360 feet wide from the north to south, and from 360 to 390 feet long from east to west; the extreme height of carrier material at a point a little northeast of the center, was nine feet six inches, sloping rapidly to the east.
This material amounted to nearly 4,000 cubic yards of earth- 1800 wagon loads; and as these people had none of the tools of our time, we say 108,000 basketfuls.
