Halley's Comet, Hopewell Effigy Mound 239 B.C.
The Chinese recorded Halley's comet in 239 B.C., but this may be the first actual visual of the comet that returns about every 75 years. The comet was constructed on an elevation 50 feet above the plain. The circle or comet is about 300 feet in diameter, making the tail well over 1,000 feet in length.
