  Unholy rumors began when this earthwork was discovered, of large cryptids who were witnessed at the site. It was always known as the "Bigfoot Earthwork” until archaeologists from the Ohio History (Dis) Connection changed the name to the Stubbs Earthwork. It was so controversial to these gatekeepers of American history that they built the Little Miami High School over the Serpent Mound in 2000. More history is lost from academia because it doesn’t fit the jaded paradigm of American history.

Stubbs or "Bigfoot" earthwork was intentionally destroyed by academia anf the gatekeeper of history at the Ohio History Connection.

The adjoining Serpent Mound at the site was destroyed by the Ohio History Connection to erase the last remnant of this part of American History that was a threat to their P.C. ideology.

    What shouldn't come as a surprise then is how an Ohio University graduate student believes Shrum Mound may not be alone... "What I did do was to hike up the Shrum Mound in the winter and check the island out through binoculars," said Armstrong. "I've done a lot of searching for mounds in the woods over the years, and what I saw with the leaves all down sure looked like it could be." Armstrong said he had heard of the MAQ (ghost) mound from an amateur historian."

    "The Ohio History Connection told the Free Press it does not have any records of burials on the quarry site known as Bird Island."

   Well, there you have it. The Ohio History Connection has no records of the "Quarry Mound." So, I have to do it!" 

    The article resulted from my first post about the discovery of the Quarry Mound; I was not mentioned in the article. The Ohio University student did believe the "island" mound was, in fact, the Quarry mound. With the 1892 map, the question is settled. Someone needs to send this information to the Ohio Historical Connection so they can "discover" the Quarry Mound. Your tax dollars at work Ohio.

The largest mound of this group must have been destroyed at some time, leaving this smaller mound of the group as the only one to survive the urban sprawl. It is situated next to a new home; however, it has been left with thick underbrush and trees growing on it that make it difficult to see.  I photographed 32 large burial mounds in Ohio.  25 of these are `" Address Restricted.  To see photos, historical documentation, and directions to these sites they are found in "The Nephilim Chronicles: A Travel Guide to the Ancient Ruin in the Ohio Valley." The Mound Builders, Archaeology of Butler County, Ohio, 1879:

"On the farms of William Hogan and Charles Borger, section twenty-one, is group of mounds, six in number. A plan of these given in Fig. 56.

  Most people see six, not seven, Pleiades stars in a dark country sky. However, the story about the lost 7th Pleiad appears universal. 

"Mr. L. Demoret looked up the history of and the stories concerning this mound, and writes as follows:

“About the year 1820 this mound was opened by a man named Young, assisted by the Keever brothers, in hopes of finding a treasure chest. They worked only during the hours of darkness, and in perfect silence, in the belief that the chest never could never be reached if a word was spoken while at work. A story was started, and believed by many, that the chest was finally discovered, when one of the diggers exclaimed: ‘I’ve got it at last!’ whereupon it slipped from his fingers and vanished, leaving a smell of brimstone in the air.

“The tunnel was started on the north side, about halfway up the slope, and ran downwards at an angle of thirty-five degrees, for a distance of thirty feet, when the center was reached, from which point it was carried eastwardly several feet. It was stated at the time that the center of the mound gave the appearance of having been once a hut formed of leaning timbers to sustain the great weight of earth. Within this vault were found a stone back-wall, coals and ashes, and human bones."

 Yellow Springs: Ohio's Haunted Blood Spring Necropolis

    The mound builders constructed hundreds of burial mounds at this site.  Tales of disembodied voices at this haunted site are notorious. Blood Spring was a place where the living could commune with dead. 

A literal river of blood runs from this natural spring.  This would have been the Holy of Holies to the Mound Builders who interpreted Iron Oxides as the blood of the Earth Mother.

It is not known if the steps were constructed by the park employees or by the ancients.  A burial mound is located just beyond the top of the steps.

Springs were interrupted as a portal to the underworld.  The serpent was the consort of the Earth Mother in the underworld who acted as a protector of the dead.

Drinking from Blood Spring.  1000s of the ancients may have come to this site to drink and be cleansed by these waters.

Chunks of Red Ocher are found in great abundance around Blood Spring. It is very likely that much of the red ocher found in the Hopewell Sioux, burial mounds in the Ohio Valley came from this Holy site.

Behind Blood Spring is this Hopewell Sioux, burial mound.  It is left overgrown in the summer months and hard to see.  Park employees are clueless to the spiritual importance of this site.

Hundreds of small mounds once dotted the landscape around Blood Spring.  Antioch College destroyed many of the burial mounds.

A few yards from Blood Spring is this natural rock formation I've dubbed, "Skull Rock."

A once large Adena burial mound in Knox County, Ohio, situated on a high table of land, has been significantly reduced by modern burials. Despite the incursion of a modern burial vault a hundred years ago, the general outline of the Adena burial mound was still visible. Later, another burial was placed on the top of the mound, which significantly reduced its height. 

Mound View Cemetery says that this is not a burial mound but was made to store bodies in the winter. I have never seen one of these before. Why would you place them in the dirt over the winter when you have a mausoleum? This doesn't make sense.

The quarry Adena burial mound is visible from the Shrum mound.  There is no sign acknowledging the Quarry Mound. 

 Discovering the Quarry Adena Burial Mound in Columbus, Ohio

The Quarry Burial Mound is just south of the Shrum Adena Mound! Is this a secret, or am I just the first to rediscover it?  I didn't even see this on the Ohio History (dis) Connection's list of "Address Restricted" burial mounds.

  I had read somewhere that there was an Adena burial mound in Columbus, Ohio, called the Quarry Mound. I have tried looking it up but have yet to be successful. The story was that when digging the quarry, they went around the burial mound, leaving it as an island when the quarry was filled with water. It's on an island in the middle of a quarry—it has still been there! 

    This morning, I am working on a post on the Shrum Adena mound in Columbus, Ohio, and was interested in what a Google Earth aerial of the site would look like. The first thing I see is quarries surrounding it, and in the middle of one is an island with a burial mound! It is within the site of the Shrum mound. Why is this a secret? 

   The Ohio Exploration Society says, " It was quite surprising to us that Shrum Mound did not fall into the grasp of the quarry and disappear forever like so many other sacred Native American sites."  Clueless.

This former overlook, where the mound is visible south of the Shrum mound. I say the former because it looks like there are mechanicals for the quarry there now. I think originally, since the quarry builders went to the trouble of saving the burial mound, this was the original overlook to view the mound.

It should be visible from the Shrum mound park in the winter months. Don't trespass. 

 

 The Almost Restored Story Adena Burial Mound (1,000 B.C. - 500 A.D.) in Chillicothe, Ohio

The Story Adena burial mound was twenty feet high and one hundred feet wide. The Ohio Historical Society excavated it in 1897. During the excavation, the top of the mound was completely removed. When the excavation was done, the archaeologists threw a fraction of the earth back onto the mound's base. This poor restoration gives the burial mound the "top hat" look it has today.

   The burial mound is located in western Chillicothe, north of S.R. 50. If you are traveling from Mound City to Spruce Hill or the Seip mound and earthwork, the Story mound is in route. Many of the largest burial mounds in Ohio are "Address Restricted. " Get the directions to all of Ohio's burial mounds and earthworks. 

 Late Woodland Enclosure in Highbanks Park in Columbus, Ohio

The earthwork in the Highbank Park, north of Columbus, Ohio in Franklin township was built a thousand years after the Adena burial mounds in the same park. Archaeologists have given the builders the erroneous name of the Cole Culture beginning around 800 A.D.

The embankment of the fortification is still visible within the park. It is best viewed in the winter months.

The earthwork of the fortification has an outer ditch where the earth was removed for the wall.

 Thursday afternoon while Jacob Burk, of Bromley, Ky., a suburb of Cincinnati, was at work in the sand pits just east of Bromley, he unearthed what was at first supposed to be the bones of some animal, but on further examination it proved to be the skeleton of a man of gigantic proportions. After further excavating it was discovered that there were two more skeletons of gigantic size, lying alongside of the one which was first discovered. The skeletons were lying in regular order and were in an excellent state of preservation. They were measured and it was found that they averaged about seven feet in height and had massive features and high cheek bones. The bones were well preserved and only in a few places were they disconnected, while the teeth were in excellent condition. The excavation from which they were taken was 30 feet deep.  Adena Burial Mound in Brown County, Ohio

The Adena burial mound in Brown County, Ohio, overlooks the Ohio River. The mound is in the small Ohio River town of Aberdeen. It was recognized as a historic site in 1974. Like so many in Ohio, it has been listed as "Address Restricted."  This means that part of American history doesn't belong to the people but to the Ohio Historical Connection.  

    The only way these mounds can be preserved is if people know about them and can keep an eye on them. In Ohio, the Ohio Historical Society destroyed thousands of burial mounds, so trying to keep the location secret is like asking the wolf to watch over the chickens.

Indian Legends of Yellow Hair: King of the Ohio Mound Builders

Shawnee Indian legend tells of a strange white race that were the mound builders who were led by a great chief they call Yellow Hair

     A tall Chief with yellow hair ruled over them and for ages, they fought off the red men and held the fisheries of the falls and the hunting grounds for their own. The sun was the god they worshiped, and he appeared to have blessed them with peace and plenty. Yellow Hair our people called the Chief, who was a giant. The Chiefs or Kings must have maintained the great stature by intermarrying in the royal family, probably killing all the females except just enough to perpetuate, the race. 

   But our people had long viewed the land from afar and they determined to possess it. The Chief at that time was Hawk Wing, the line through which I come. He sent spies to make overtures to the strange white people and they visited Yellow Hair and told him the Shawnees wanted to share with them the fisheries and the hunting grounds.
    Yellow Hair listened to their statements and then told them that there was just enough for the white people and that he and his people preferred to live by themselves. Then the Ambassadors of the Shawnees said that if the white people would not submit peacefully to having them as neighbors, they would slay them and take their possessions.
