The Adena Mound in Chillicothe the Namesake of the Adena Mound Builders

The Adena Mound in Chillicothe the Namesake of the Adena Mound Builders

The Adena mound was located on the Adena Estate owned by Thomas Worthington in Chillicothe, Ohio.  The burial mound was destroyed by the Ohio Historical Society. The mound was encircle by a moat and ditch much like the one that surrounded the largest moound in the  Ohio Valley at Grave Creek, West Virginia.

Burial mounds (barrows) surrounded by a ditch were common in the British Isles. This, and henges in England and the Ohio Valley were also identical that would lead anyone but an archaeologist that these works were built by the same people.
